African Americans in Gerontology publishes a Summer and Winter Edition of the Journal of African American Gerontology™. We are seeking students and professionals in the field of Gerontology to submit articles and original research. Students members of AAIG are asked  to submit papers through their advisors. PLAGIARISM IS A CRIME! Students must submit an original body of work. We are looking for well-written papers with original research. We are especially looking for research relating to African American elderly and Relocation Stress Syndrome. Papers submitted must be in APA 5th Edition format. Acceptable formats for submissions are .pdf and .doc. Submissions for the Summer Edition are due May 25, 2010.

Submitting an Article

(1) Articles should include the title, abstract, and key words but not the author's name or any other identifying information, and should be formatted as described below.

(2) An e-mail message with the article as an attachment to African Americans In Gerontology should be sent to info@blacksngerontology.org. Use "Submission" as the subject in the email address block. The message should include (1) the author’s name, (2) the title of the article, (3) an abstract of no more than 150 words, and (4) any relevant information about the author, including institutional affiliation, mailing and e-mail addresses.

Once you have prepared your paper observing the formatting, attach it to the e-mail message and click "Send." An acknowledgement will be sent indicating that the paper has been received.

Submission Requirements
Articles for submission must be previously unpublished and in English. Papers should be well-written, and we encourage grace as well as clarity. It is important that papers be copy-edited carefully before submission. Drafts are not acceptable. In submitting work to African Americans In Gerontology, authors agree to the policies of this journal, including free access and use of the material published in it with, of course, proper acknowledgment of authorship and source. If you have any questions about whether your article is appropriate for AAIG, send it directly to the editor for a preliminary review.

All articles will be blind-refereed except when invited. The decision of the editorial board is final. Articles accepted for publication will be copyrighted by African Americans In Gerontology.

Because African Americans In Gerontology rely on the generosity of scholars who contribute their time to review articles, we ask that authors not submit their work to other journals at the same time. By using computer technology throughout, we expect that the review process will move quickly and that authors will be notified in a reasonable time.
